56 – 0

It couldn’t have been a more embarrassing defeat.  Its not even that Canberra played exceptionally well, it’s that the Broncos were absolutely terrible.  Words cannot describe how pathetic their performance was.  It was a mistake moving Hunt to halfback, and although I previously said that he may be successful in AFL, after seeing some of his kicks on the weekend, I may want to re think this statement.  Canberra simply, like any good football side would do, took advantage of the numerous opportunities that the Broncos handed them on a silver platter.  The Broncos are just lucky that the Video referee came up with a ridiculous call and that Campese missed two kicks or the score line could have been a lot more embarrassing.  In fact, their performance was so horrible that the coach did not watch the end of the game and in a post game press conference, apologized to the fans and sponsors for the performance displayed.  In my opinion, the efforts of the Broncos had nothing to do with Henjack, it had to do with player attitude.

One of their problems is that they thrust their young players into first grade way too early.  Most of their players have limited experience and therefore made poor decisions in both attack and defense.  I’m not saying that the team doesn’t have enough first grade experience, they do…what I’m saying is the quality of their experience and training is poor.  They need to go back to basics and relearn all the skills that they should have perfected before being thrown into first grade.
